The short version

  • The Pip subscription is £18 a month or £200 a year, with a 14-day free trial and no card details needed. If you already pay for your own AI, the app is free with it.
  • What you make is yours, and it's saved on your Mac.
  • Pip's AI can get things wrong. Check what matters before you rely on it.
  • Pip is in early access: still changing, and with shared limits on the subscription's AI.
  • Cancel any time. Your work stays put.

Who you're dealing with

They cover the Pip app for Mac, your Pip account and the Pip subscription. By using Pip or starting a trial, you agree to them. The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

You need to be 18 or over to use Pip. If you use Pip for a business, you agree to these terms for that business too, and you confirm you're allowed to.

If you're a consumer, you have legal rights that nothing in these terms takes away.

Early access

Early access is open to people in the UK. Sign up on the website and we'll email you Pip straight away. Anyone who signs in with Apple gets an account, with a free trial.

We may make Pip invite-only again. Then an account is made only for an email address on our invite list, or with an invite code we send you. A code works once, for whoever uses it first. If you sign in without an invite, you can still use Pip with your own AI.

Early access means Pip is still being built. Things will change, and some will break. Tell us when they do: it helps. If you send us ideas, we may use them to make Pip better, with nothing owed either way.

We may end early access, or change who it's open to. If we do, we'll tell you first.

Pip with your own AI

The app is free when it uses AI you already have: your Claude plan, an API key, or a model on your Mac. Making and changing pictures needs the Pip subscription.

Your requests go straight from your Mac to that provider, under your account. Its terms, prices, limits and privacy policy apply, and what it charges you is between you and it. Use it within its rules.

On your Claude plan, Pip runs Anthropic's own Claude Code on your Mac, signed in to your Claude account. What Pip does counts toward your plan's limits, and Anthropic's terms apply.

The same goes for services you connect, such as Slack, Notion, Google and Granola: they're your accounts, under their terms.

The app itself

We give you a personal licence to use the Pip app on your Macs. Don't sell it, or copy it for others. Pip includes open-source software, which stays under its own licences. Ask us and we'll send you the list.

The Pip subscription

With the subscription, Pip provides the AI: a choice of models, Claude included, run through EU servers, and pictures made or changed from a description. There's nothing to set up.

Price

£18 a month, or £200 a year. It includes 100 credits a month for Pip's AI. When they're used up, Pip carries on with a lighter AI until they refresh. The price you see is the price you pay.

Concessions: 30% off for students, disabled people and anyone out of work, at £12.60 a month or £140 a year. To claim, email hello@haydenslaughter.co.uk and say which applies. We take your word for it, don't ask for proof, and record only that you have a concession, not why.

The free trial

The trial lasts 14 days and needs no card. Before it ends, Hayden will email you to say what happens next.

When it ends, keep the subscription by paying for it, or switch to your own AI in Settings. If there's still no way to pay by then, we'll either extend your trial or switch the subscription's AI off, and we'll email you first. Your own AI keeps working either way, and the trial can't turn into a charge on its own, because we never had your card. Your work stays put.

Paying

There's no way to pay yet. When payments start, you'll pay in advance, monthly or yearly, and the subscription renews at the end of each period until you cancel. A payment provider will take the payment, and we'll never see your full card details.

If a payment fails, the subscription's AI pauses until it's sorted, and Pip keeps working with your own AI.

If the price changes, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, so you can cancel first if you'd rather. A new price applies from your next renewal, never part-way through a period you've paid for.

Cancelling

Cancel any time by emailing hello@haydenslaughter.co.uk. We'll confirm by email. The subscription runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then stops. Your work stays on your Mac, and Pip carries on with your own AI.

Refunds

If you're a consumer, you can cancel a new paid subscription within 14 days of paying. If you asked for it to start straight away, we refund what you paid, less a fair share for the days you had it.

After that, when you cancel, you keep the subscription to the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't refund the rest of a month or year. There are three exceptions, set out below: if we make an important change you'd rather not carry on with, if we stop making Pip, or if we close your account when you've done nothing wrong, we refund the time you've paid for and won't get.

If something we supply is faulty or not as described, you have the right to have it put right, or to a price reduction or a refund.

Fair use and limits

The subscription's AI costs us real money with every request, so it has limits. They're there to keep it working for everyone, and they never cost you extra.

  • Each account has 100 credits a month for Pip's AI. When they're used up, Pip tells you and carries on with a lighter AI until they refresh next month. There are no surprise charges, and you can switch to your own AI whenever you like.
  • There's a limit on how many requests one person can make a minute and a day, and on how much one person can use in a day.
  • While Pip is in early access, the subscription's AI also has overall daily and weekly limits. If they're reached, it pauses until the next day (or, for the weekly limit, until Monday), and Pip tells you when it'll be back.
  • Only so many new people can start the subscription each day.

While it's paused, your work is all there, and you can carry on with your own AI in the meantime. A pause is never your fault. If the subscription's AI is paused for everyone for more than a day in a period you've paid for, we'll add that time to the end of your subscription.

Your work stays yours

Everything you make in Pip is yours: notes, tables, decks, photos and canvases, and what Pip writes or makes for you in them. We claim no rights in any of it.

It's saved in a folder on your Mac, in ordinary files you can open in other apps. We don't receive it, so we don't need a licence to it. On the Pip subscription, your requests pass through our server only to get you an answer. We use them for that and nothing else, and we don't keep them.

Make sure you have the right to what you bring in, such as other people's writing or photos of other people.

Because your work lives on your Mac, keep a backup, with Time Machine or a synced folder. We can't recover it for you.

Other people's data

If you use Pip for a business, and your requests include other people's personal data, we process it for you only to get you an answer. We keep it confidential, keep nothing once the answer is back, use only the companies listed in the privacy policy (and tell you before adding one), help you with requests from the people concerned, tell you without delay if something goes wrong, and give you the information you need to check all this.

Using Pip well

Don't use Pip, your account or the subscription to:

  • break the law, or help someone else to;
  • harass, threaten, deceive or exploit anyone;
  • make sexual content involving children, or content that encourages violence or self-harm;
  • make a picture that shows a real person, unless they've agreed to it;
  • send Pip's picture tools a photo of anyone under 18, or of anyone who hasn't agreed to it being changed;
  • infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights;
  • get round the limits: share or sell your account, invite code or access, or send requests from scripts;
  • attack, overload or try to get into our server or anyone's account;
  • use what the subscription's AI produces to train a competing AI model.

The companies whose models the subscription uses have rules of their own, and those apply too.

If you break these rules, we may pause or close your account. We'll tell you why, and where it's fair, give you the chance to put it right first. Your work on your Mac isn't touched.

AI can be wrong

Pip's AI is useful, and it makes mistakes. It can misread your work, miss something, or say something untrue with confidence. Check what matters before you rely on it: numbers, dates, names, facts about people, and anything legal, medical or financial.

Pip works from your notes and shows you which ones, so you can check. Pip isn't a lawyer, accountant, doctor or any other adviser, and what Pip writes isn't advice.

You decide what to send, publish or act on. Pip doesn't send email or post messages for you, and to begin with Pip asks before changing anything outside your Mac, like a Notion page.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Pip running well, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of bugs.

The subscription depends on services we don't run: Supabase, EU Router and the companies that run its models, and Black Forest Labs for pictures. When one of them is down, the subscription's AI or pictures stop until it's back. The app works on your Mac without us, with your own AI.

Pip changes as it grows: features are added, changed and sometimes removed. Updates are offered in the app, and you choose when to install them. If we change something important in the subscription you pay for, we'll tell you at least 30 days before. If you'd rather not carry on, cancel before the change and we'll refund what you've paid for the time left.

If we change these terms, the date at the top changes. For important changes, we'll email people with an account before they apply, at least 30 days before where we can. A change needed for security or the law may apply sooner. A change to the price, or to what you pay for, always gets the 30 days' notice above.

If we ever stop making Pip, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any time you've paid for and won't get. Your work stays on your Mac as ordinary files.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit.

If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. If something we supply damages your Mac or your files, and it's our fault, we'll put it right or pay you fairly for it, but not for damage you could have avoided by installing a free update we offered, or by following our instructions.

If you use Pip for a business, we're not responsible for lost profit, business, revenue or opportunity, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of £100 and what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

We're not responsible for the AI providers or services you choose yourself, or for what you do with what Pip writes.

Ending this agreement

You can stop whenever you like: cancel the subscription, sign out and delete the app. To delete your account too, email us. The privacy policy says what's deleted and what stays.

We may pause or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. We'll tell you why, and give you notice where we can. If we close it when you've done nothing wrong, we'll refund any time you've paid for and won't get.

When it ends, the subscription stops. Your work stays on your Mac, and it's still yours.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear disputes about them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim in your own courts too.

If we disagree about something, let's talk first. Email us and Hayden will reply.

If a court decides part of these terms can't apply, the rest still does. Only you and we have rights under them.
